Next Saturday 26th October, from 10:00h to 14:00h, the Casa de la Cultura of Mazarrón will be the setting for a unique event aimed at all volunteers and administrative staff involved in the welfare and care of the feline colonies in the municipality. The ‘ Trapping Workshop by Los Cuatro de la Empanadill’ will offer specialised training in the C.E.R. method (Capture, Neuter, Return) and in techniques for rescuing cats in difficult situations.

This workshop is not only crucial for its educational content but also for the collaborative approach it promotes. It will be led by the renowned Madrid-based group ‘Los Cuatro de la Empanadilla’, experts in trapping cats, especially those considered wild and difficult to access. The training will be divided into three essential parts:

1. Introduction and collaboration: This first phase of the workshop will last 1.5 hours and will address key issues such as the new Animal Welfare Act, the overall management of the cat population and the planning and organisation needed to carry out effective trapping.
2. Basic C.E.R. material: In the second part, also of 1.5 hours, participants will learn about the different types of cage traps and how to use them correctly in challenging contexts such as rooftops or manholes, among others.
3. Special case rescues: The last hour of the workshop will focus on special rescues, providing knowledge and tools to intervene in rescues in cars, trees, roofs, sewers and standpipes.

This event is a perfect opportunity for volunteers and council staff to increase their knowledge and skills, thus ensuring a more efficient and humane management of Mazarrón’s cat colonies.
