This event, which has become one of the most prestigious in Spain, aims to highlight the landscape heritage of the municipality and pay tribute to the renowned Mazarrón painter Domingo Valdivieso.

• Rules of the Contest

– National and international artists over 16 years of age may participate. The works must reflect the landscapes of Mazarrón and can be done with free technique on canvas, wood or any other rigid support. The allowed dimensions are between 65×50 cm and 120 cm on the larger side of the work.

– Registration is free and the sealing of the canvases will take place on the same day of the contest in the Casas Consistoriales of Mazarrón, where the supports will be sealed from 08:00 to 10:00 hours. The finished works will be delivered to the Parish Centre between 15:30 and 17:00 hours.

• Awards and Recognition

The competition will reward the best works with prizes including:

1º Prize “Domingo Valdivieso”: 2.500 € y diploma.
2º Prize: 1.500 € y diploma.
3º Prize: 1.000 € y diploma.
Special Watercolour Prize: 600 € y diploma.
Four runners-up prizes: 500 € y diploma cada uno.
Ten final mentions with diploma, without financial award.

The collaborating entities will acquire ownership of the winning works, while non-winning participants may decide whether they wish to cede their works temporarily for exhibition.

• Exhibition of Works

The awarded and selected works will be exhibited in the Casas Consistoriales of Mazarrón from 2 December 2024 to 6 January 2025. In addition, the non-winning artists will be able to offer their works for sale during the exhibition.

This contest, framed in the Patron Saint Festivities of the Virgen de la Purísima, reaffirms the commitment of the Town Hall of Mazarrón with the promotion of art and culture. Year after year, this event attracts artists from all over Spain, consolidating itself as a reference in the national artistic panorama.
