Mazarrón has a Mediterranean microclimate, which generates optimum conditions to enjoy beaches, nature and nautical sports all year long.

On one side, the municipality is surrounded by mountains (Sierra del Algarrobo and Sierra de las Moreras), that keep Northern winds from penetrating the zone and allowing an average year temperature of 18 degrees (64 °F).

On the other, the location of Mazarrón gulf, between Cabo de Palos and Cabo de Gata (Almeria), prevents cold currrents entering the Atlantic via the Strait of Gibraltar from having an impact on water temperature, which is 5 degrees over the Mediterranean average.
