16th Century • Directions
It was built by the Marquis of Villena. From the original temple, only the main nave is preserved, with its coffered, Mudejar-style ceiling. The rest of the building had several alterations over the years, resulting in today’s appearance.
From an ornamental point of view, some remains of pictorical parietal paintings can still be seen. It has two doors. The one on the side is the original stepway to the temple. According to González Simancas, who visited the church early in the XX century, it had coats of arms from Guzmán, Cisneros, Enríquez and others, with crowns of flowers and fruits embossed, similar to those of the Junterón chapel from the cathedral of Murcia.
The site is declared Asset Of Cultural Interest.
