Up the hill, Molinete tower or Catholic King tower is located.
It is a circular watchtower in a hill, next to the fortress of Los Vélez. The Molinete tower was built under Catholic Kings reign that, back in 1490, decided it was the safest line of defence for the coast.
From the vantage point, the coast could be monitored and protected, as well as Mazarrón, under siege by Berber piracy. The site is declared Asset Of Cultural Interest.
