Tower Of Santa Isabel

XVI century • Directions

The climate of insecurity due to Berber piracy led Mazarrón to build watch towers along the coast line, to allow fishing and agricultural activities in the coast.

The Torre de la Cumbre or the Torre Vieja del Puerto or Santa Isabel is located in a promontory that loomed over Puerto de Mazarrón in that era.

Today, this promontory is inside the city centre of Puerto de Mazarrón. The tower has a circular layout, with a slightly conical-shaped trunk and two vaulted bodies. The site is declared Asset Of Cultural Interest.
